This is rural France. There are no entertainments in walking distance. Ciry has of course a town bar and there is a small, sometimes open restaurant. But this rurality doesn't really matter. Up the D60 to Monceau is about 25m, longer via the canal road. Approaching Monceau via this back road there are three good restaurants. Real food where the French go for family lunches, evening dinners and they can be noisy. South is Charolles with of course a Hotel d' Post. Food influenced by Paris here. Of course one can go to Lyon where Maitre Because has at least one restaurant. But stay overnight and take a healthy appetite - and bank balance. South East and South west are small villages some of which have good bars, one or two having great restaurants. You might think service a bit slow; but some of the dishes are of the best standard - the creme caramels around here are great. One is only about 25m from the 'Suive le Grape' route. That takes you in a big loop via the best wine regions. Or one could just drive to Beaune or Macon. The TGV is about 30m away |
